Mr. McBeth

And here's to you, “Baptist Heritage”
Students love you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, “Baptist Heritage”
Dante holds a place for those who stray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our class
We'd like to read to learn about ourselves
Look around you, all you see are apathetic eyes
Stroll around the library until you find the book

And here's to you, “Baptist Heritage”
Students love you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, “Baptist Heritage”
Dante holds a place for those who stray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in on the back shelf with your mistakes
It's a little secret, just the SBC’s affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the “kids”

Hal-le-lu-jah, “Baptist Heritage”
Students love you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, “Baptist Heritage”
Dante holds a place for those who stray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting at my desk on a Sunday afternoon
Reading on the SBC debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Leon McBeth
A student turns his lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, “Baptist Heritage”
Leon McBeth has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Mmmmmm, that's good satire.

I'm very disappointed that they are getting rid of McBeth's book. In my lowly opinion, it is the best out there for Baptist History...why would it be on the shelf? It's dealing w/women in ministry? Portrayal of the origin of the SBC? Panis Circenses, what is your opinion? At least it will be one of my 1500...

Sorry. Not quite sure what you're referring to.

I agree that Dr. McBeth's work on Baptists is indeed a great resource. It certainly graces my library. However, I'm starting to see a trend with the lovely Bread and Circuses:

Dr. Patterson, Dr. Bullock, other professors who left the seminary as part of the natural change of new leadership, and now Dr. McBeth's book...*sigh* Must you always search endlessly in vain for some sort of non-existent conspiracy?

I think you have me confused with another blog. No trend here.

And I do not think all of the professors who mentioned have left.

Another blog? Surely not. The last time I checked, the authors of Theodrama and Panis Circenses were one and the same--unless, of course, you have split personalities (though from your writing styles, topics, and biases, I might deduce that this would not be the case).

I didn't say you were confuisng me with another author -though that may be the case. Rather, I was suggesting you have me confused with another blog. From your reply I think that might be the case. No problem; it happens all the time.

Quite sorry that the confusion happens so often. Just one question, though. If I am confusing you with another author/blog, why can the following picture be linked to both Theodrama and Panis Circenses? The AuthorOr, if you perhaps desire the picture at its source: NicsPicsIt seems to me that I know whom I am addressing.

It is quite possible that the author is the same - or that may not be the case - regardless, the blog is not the same. One shouldn't confuse this blog with another blog. One should only confuse this blog with this blog. Now in terms of the author, one can confuse this author with another author and that could be either a good thing or a bad thing or an appropriate confusion or an inappropriate confusion.

Whether you know who you are addressing is a different matter entirely.
