After considerable research, visits and, of course, prayer, I have accepted the position of Administrative Pastor at a church in Kings Mountain, NC. I will be moving there in the coming weeks.
Right now we’re are packing and searching both for a house to rent and a job for Lisa.
It's near my home town, they are conservative, very loving and ministering, they want to reach the "poor" and the "fringe", they are apolitical, and the pastor is a humble and
pride-less man!
This is an exciting time for Lisa and I – I am as certain as I have ever been that God is behind this move and ministry (my other two certainties are my salvation in Christ and my marriage to Lisa).
The only theological questions the personnel committee asked was “Who is Jesus Christ?” and “What is the Bible?” – of the latter, they did not mind my quasi-neo-orthodox definition:
“The Scriptures are inspired by God (God-breathed) and are authoritative, infallible, inerrant, and, when I read the Scriptures, I receive the Word of God.”
It is that last part that is the cause of so much contention among evangelicals.
This certainty is very interesting beyond the obvious. I am starting to see how God has prepared me for this ministry going all the way back mainly to 1993 but even to 1985 in some places. And that is a surreal thing … to suddenly understand significant portions of one’s earlier life in terms of what God is doing NOW. I am certainly learning a lot about myself.
Please pray for this transition.
Pray that we find a good house and job for Lisa.
Pray for continued sanctification.
Pray for the ministry and this next chapter: Chapter 7.
I’ve finished my tutelage under “John the Baptist”, come out of the wilderness and its time to go back to Nazareth and preach Isaiah 61. I just turned 30.
